6 Great Films to Watch This Christmas

It’s that time of the year again where we bring out the fluffy blankets, hot chocolate, and cosy up to the fire while watching Christmas films. This is my favourite time of the year!  To celebrate the festive season, I have comprised a list of some of my favourite films to watch at Christmas that you’re guaranteed to enjoy!

Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas

This live adaptation of the classic Dr. Seuss book was an essential part of my childhood growing up. I’m sure most know the story about how the Grinch despises Christmas so he tries to ruin it for those living in Whoville.  But his plans are ruined when he meets little Cindy Lou Who. This is a cute story to watch with the kids and of course Jim Carrey does a great job as the Grinch.

The Muppet Christmas Carol

The Muppets bring a new twist to the timeless Christmas Carol. The story of Ebenezer Scrooge is told as characters like Ms. Piggy, Kermit, and Fozzie Bear are seen throughout the film. The Muppet’s charm is very present in the film making for many laughs. Sometimes I even forgets it’s a children’s film. The soundtrack is also great, I love to have a good-old sing along. This is a great way to watch the classic story unfold.

Home Alone

This is a classic film. What is better than Macaulay Culkin as a child. This is a hilarious Christmas film where Culkin’s character, Kevin, gets left behind on accident as his family is taking a trip to Paris. Although, this is not all that goes wrong. Two robbers try to rob Kevin’s home and Kevin makes it his mission to protect it. This is a great film to watch with the whole family.

Elf

Elf is a comical movie that will make all ages laugh. Will Ferrell is the hilarious lead actor and his character of Buddy is amazing. It is quite hard to not like Buddy. Buddy is a human who was raised as an elf and doesn’t know any better. He realises he is different. When he goes to NYC to look for his real father, we get to see how he interacts with normal people, which is very comical. He struggles to use the escalators and mistakes a Santa impersonator for the real one. I highly recommend this movie. It is a must see and a great laugh!

Love Actually

Love Actually is my favorite Christmas movie of all time! I absolutely love the story line! This film follows nine different stories that all connect at the end. The various stories range from the Prime Minister falling for his assistant to a man falling for a woman who he can’t even communicate with as they speak different languages. All the stories have to do with the complexities of love with comedic relief every now and then. I definitely love a good RomCom every once in awhile. Everyone should watch this during the Christmas season. It won’t feel like Christmas until you watch Love Actually!

All of these films are classics in my book. I think they are all a must see during the Christmas season. You definitely won’t regret watching any one of these films!
