The Stage and the City Commercial Dance Company is a non-professional adult troupe. This brand new company will be one of our resident, elite companies that will  rehearse weekly and polish choreographed commercial dance numbers for  fun and exciting showcases, flashmobs, performances and public-facing entertainment.

Led by choreographer, director and creative producer, Samantha Pauls who has worked with the likes of the National Centre for Circus Arts, Black Cat Cabaret and Proud Cabaret. As Assistant Choreographer for Love Rudeye Agency, Samantha has assisted with casting and choreography for music videos by artists such as Ella Eyre. She will be training members of our resident company to a high standard, improving not only your flexibility, musicality and rhythm but also giving your confidence a megaboost!

Sam will be leading you with her unique, eclectic style. Her mission is to share the joy of dancing and make the art form feel inclusive and accessible.

Commercial dance is made up of different styles including jazz, hip hop, whacking, voguing, heels and street dance. If you love pop, hip hop and RnB music this could be the troupe for you!

You will need to have some previous dance experience and feel comfortable picking up choreography. During the course you’ll develop your dance and performing skills while learning routines for competitions, showcases and any other potential opportunities that may arise. Routines will be videoed as part of developing the repertoire.

To be awarded a place in the company please send in an audition tape with a choreographed dance to hello@stageandthecity.com with the subject line Commercial Dance Company Audition, along with a few lines about your previous dance experience. We do not expect these pieces (or the filming!) to be polished – this Company is still training. We just want to see your unique style, capability to learn and tenacity. Dancing with your feet is one thing, dancing with your heart is another.

If successful you will be offered a place and sent a booking link to pay your £20 deposit. Once you attend your first class on 22nd September, if you wish to continue with the term and the company, full fees will be due by the following weeks class. If you, or Samantha, finds that perhaps the class is too advanced, or you’re simply not ready, no further payment will be required from you.
