Claire Amias Claire is a RADA trained actor. She has worked extensively on stage and screen. She also acts, writes and directs for her theatre company A Monkey With Cymbals. On-screen Claire has played main supporting roles in numerous feature films including Mabel Smith in Borley Rectory (alongside Reece Shearsmith), Ms. Conrad in Telling Lies (alongside Jason Flemyng and Melanie Brown), the Young Nurse in Provoked (which starred Miranda Richardson and Robbie Coltrane), and Beattie in The Magic Hour. Stage roles have included Mags in Handbagged and Sheila in Relatively Speaking at Windsor Theatre Royal and on tour, and Maggie in Hobson's Choice and Liz Essendine in Present Laughter at Chesterfield Pomegranate Theatre all for Paul Taylor-Mills. Also Claire has performed in several No 1 Tours - Funny Peculiar for Bill Kenwright and Handbagged for Eleanor Lloyd Prods.

Well have we got a treat for you, esteemed actress and director, Claire Amias is leading a 6-week, scene-packed, online acting course where you can explore all of your NT Live favourites… from the comfort of your own home!

In each scene study class you will work on a difference scene from each of the plays every week so you’ll absolutely get your fill and try your hand at playing all of your new favourite characters!

Discussion mixed with acting and vocal technique, this course is the fun escapism you’ve been searching for – the antidote to a sparsity of socialising! Meet new like-minded friends, learn new skills and give your confidence a boost!

Course Content

    • Work using vocal, breathe and physical techniques to create characters
    • Improve Confidence
    • Journey through NT Live scenes, explore characters and worlds
    • Group discussions through each play with activities set for following week
    • Internal showing at the end of each session 
    • Track your progress as you watch your self-esteem boost
    • Look historically at scenes and explore cultures, status and geographies
    • Immerse into true escapism!

Claire is a well-loved Stage & the City teacher who has been with us for many years. She is a firm favourite amongst students who almost always return to work with her. Claire is an esteemed professional actress, director and writer so you will be in very safe (and friendly) hands!


This course will take place on Tuesdays 7PM- 9PM,  3rd November- 8th December. ALL profits from this course will go towards Saving the Anna Fiorentini Kids Charity Theatre School.
