Our Street Dance Classes for beginners comprise of commercial and urban street styles. This class gives an introduction to street dance, combining basic moves and capturing the urban vibe. The videos and music that dominate the popular music scene and television today have dancers performing a fresh combination of street and hip-hop styles.
This course is a great introduction to this mix of styles which fuses many styles of dance including Hip Hop, Urban, Jazz and Latin. You will learn basic techniques, improve coordination, and with added flavour, you will learn street routines throughout the term to modern and contemporary tracks. The street classes will also help develop your coordination, musicality and core strength. It will also develop your dance ability and allow you to try other styles of dance on offer within stage & the City such as Diva Dance.
Teacher: Kaachan Ellis
Kachaan has taught a range of dance styles including street dance, musical theatre, bollywood, tap, ballet and ballet-fitness. She is also a qualified teacher of the International Dance Teachers’ Association and has coached students for IDTA exams. A full time student at the Sylvia Young Theatre School for seven years of her childhood and moving on to other performing arts institutions such as The Brit School and American Musical Theatre Academy are some highlights of her past training. Some of her notable credits include the West End musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at The London Palladium, Mother Goose pantomime at the Hackney Empire, Royal Gala performance at the Natural History Museum, Move It at Olympia and supporting artist work for EastEnders. She specialises in teaching commercial styles of dance. Her eye for detail and precise instruction enables students to shine no matter what their dance ability.
